First Christmas after split...

Well we made it through the Christmas time and everyone survived. It was a bit odd though, this year not having that special someone being around. The house had that certain emptiness. All are our friends are special, but you get the hint. The kids had fun and that's what counts. Although they did a little better in the haul on mom's side, but she always has made Christmas special for them, and goes a little overboard. I'm sure she'll always continue that. On dad's side they did OK too. lol. I have always been kind of a cheap ass, but to me it's been more quality than quantity.

It was kind of tough for the kids to get myself and my ex gifts. I didn't want her to spend her money on me and I didn't want to spend much on her. So we came to an agreement. We let spend 10 bucks at the dollar store for each of us. (Ex brother in law came up with the idea). It was pretty funny seeing the stuff they picked out. With a little guidance from both of us, they did a good job.

The funny part of picking the gifts my daughter did an awesome job with practicality. It was kind of amazing how at 3 she can already remember things that mom and dad both like. Like remembering mom needs chip clips and likes candles. For dad she remembered I love cashew nuts and my favorite chocolate covered cherries. My son on the other hand took a little more coaxing. He had to learn that deodorant and room fresheners were not that great of an idea. I told him if he gets a woman deodorant she might think that you think she stinks. He thought yeah that might not be a good idea. lol.

In all it was a better than expected Christmas.
